Anthony William, The Medical Medium, live right here.
We're doing this a little earlier tonight.
So I'm going to get Dr. Olana Zabloski-Amir on.
So that's what I'm going to do.
So this is exciting.
She's an awesome MD in New York State.
She's helped a lot of people for over 25 years.
And that's a seasoned physician.
That's a seasoned doctor.
And I talk about the difference between, you know, seasoned doctors or seasoned MDs that have seen a lot of suffering and struggling.
And also, but not just that, you know, also at the same time knowing what to do along the way too.
And that's a whole other thing.
You know, and so I'm really excited about this because she's really a successful medical doctor and loved greatly and loved by me too.
And so this is great.
So we're doing it now.
so I'm excited and you know so what I'm gonna do is see if I can get her on here
too so the time change happened because I'm actually doing the Tony Robbins
event where I'm speaking on there and so we're just I'm just adjusting my time
for that too and this is great
so let me just work on getting her on here see if we have any more tech
problems today
So let's see if we're here.
Sorry about the delay, you guys.
There you are.
There I am.
Incredible.
I think here we are.
So this is amazing.
So I was just telling everybody, you're 25 years plus in what I call the trenches of chronic illness, helping out so many people.
And it's amazing I have you here.
it's an honor for me you did the forward you did the forward to medical medium cleanse to heal
very proudly so and that was like that was incredible i was i was i know that so many
people have the book already if you guys have the book you can read dr alana's forward right here too
in cleanse to heal and um and so i mean there's so much to talk about we'll just get get through
what we can get through and take it from there. So I wanted to ask you this question here about
the different people that have come into your office over the years. And you cover like a wide
variety of illnesses and symptoms throughout your practice. Because a lot of doctors, you know,
they'll just focus on maybe only one thing and one thing only. And that's what they do. But I think,
I mean, from what I've learned and, you know, from knowing you and everything else, you cover so many
different things. So, I mean, you must've seen it all. Cause I, I, I talk about like the difference
between seasoned doctors, it's not just doctors that they graduate, they, they intern for a little
while, if right in a clinic or something, and then they only do a year of practice and then
they're just, they're, they're not, but they don't know so many nuances. They don't know so
many subtle differences and so many experiences with symptoms and conditions and people on how
they struggle and suffer, especially if they have it themselves. And, you know, and I talk about that
all the time. So, so you must have seen it all. And I know that you have, because we've talked
about it, but, you know, and so one of the questions I had anyway was like, what is, what are
the big, what are the most common things you're seeing coming to your office these days? Like,
what's the most common? Well, I guess symptomatically, you know, the most common would
be fatigue, chronic pain, and digestive disorders, and a lot of thyroid. So a lot of people have
underlying thyroid conditions or have Hashimoto's. They'll call me Hashimoto's. I don't know what to
do. But symptomatically, I would say fatigue, pain, and GI symptoms are quite fun.
Thyroid problems are exploding. And I talk about this a lot where if someone, they feel
and indestructible. They feel like they're young and strong. They feel like they have no problems.
They're just going to end up with a thyroid problem anyway, because what I've noticed in 35
years is everybody's getting the thyroid. All women are getting a thyroid problem eventually.
I mean, are you seeing the same thing no matter what in their life? I'm seeing men. I'm seeing a
lot of men. And I happen to test. I'm all about early detection, prevention, early detection,
early action so i do a lot of blood testing so i test for thyroid you know even antibodies which
will be almost predictive for a thyroid condition later on i test on on lots of people um kind of as
a screen um and i find it so much i find even on family members i found it and you know on one
particular family member i found that he had uh um thyroid antibodies and then the thyroid was
slowly starting to creep more and the thyroid ultrasound was off a little bit i took him to a
uh an endocrinologist just because i wanted them to take a look and see what i'm you know making
sure i'm not missing anything sure um i sent them to an endocrinologist and um the endocrinologist
said no don't worry it's just gonna get worse and when it gets worse you'll go on thyroid medicine
and you'll be fine and that's what happened to me and i i mentioned things like gluten
or actually this was even pre-medical medium.
So Epstein-Barr wasn't even that much on my radar.
But, you know, I mentioned gluten and nutrients
and no, nothing to do with it.
And anyway, we were able to keep,
we've been able to keep it very much in check.
I think doctors are,
I think the necrologists are just,
they just wait for these things to happen too.
You know what I mean?
But I think that's the mindset.
That's like the natural medical model.
So it's not on their radar otherwise.
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.
Thyroid problems are really big right now.
I've seen them over the years develop and get worse and worse and worse.
And I've always talked about if somebody has hyper and hypo together,
like you can have thyroids that are like hypo and hyper together.
I mean, you can have the whole blend.
And it bleeds me back into like the different troublemakers that people have.
And I talk about troublemakers and cleanse and heal.
So if you guys want to know about that, you can read that in Plans of Heal.
But the troublemakers are the different pesticides, herbicides people have, the toxic heavy metals I talk about all the time, all the different toxic heavy metals.
And then the mercury, the aluminum, the cadmium, the lead, the arsenic, the copper.
And everybody's got a mixed bag in them.
You know, what I've always said of why we're all different, Alana, I've always said we're all different because we all have a different level of something going on inside of us.
Somebody might have more mercury and they might have more mercury somewhere in their
brain, in a different part of their brain.
Somebody might have more aluminum in a different part of their brain, maybe in the emotional
center or the frontal lobe or near the pituitary.
And then maybe someone has, you know, an Epstein bar inside the liver or an Epstein bar in
their thyroid causing their thyroid problems.
Another person might have shingles plus an Epstein bar, maybe streptococcus causing acne
and different levels of it and different varieties of pathogens.
the troublemakers are endless. The combinations are literally endless for each person. And, you
know, we're human, like the human species is supposed to pretty much function the same overall
outside of size differences and strength differences. The human species is supposed
to function pretty, pretty much the same in many ways. But what makes, I've always said,
what makes us so different is to why we're sick and why we can't, we can't function the brain fog
and the ADHD, you know, the bipolar, the OCD, the depression, the anxiety, the, the chronic fatigue
syndrome you mentioned earlier and all these things. But I've always noticed this, well,
we all have different stuff brewing in us. We have stagnant sluggish livers that makes,
you know, lymphatic systems not working good. We have different, you know, some people have
more pathogens in them than others and, you know, and, and, you know, more toxic heavy metals than
others, because everybody's got a different blend in different places inside our body. And,
and so the need for cleansing is critical for all around for everybody. I mean, that's,
that's what the need is for. And, and I mean, I'm sure you've seen every, everything in all
these years and so many different symptoms, especially the neurological symptoms. Have you
seen the neurological symptoms in your practice throughout the years to all the different
neurological symptoms i mean chronic fatigue is one all on its own that's that's neurological
the neuropathy chronic pain uh you know various weaknesses you know brain fog um
parkinson's disease i mean yeah yeah you know what i noticed too is is people don't know that
brain fog is neurological. That's the neurological symptom. And, you know, and, and we got something
going on that has to be addressed. Like we have to do something about it. We have to learn how
to cleanse. We have to find out what the root is to the brain fog. And I mean, if you look at
Parkinson's or Alzheimer's or, or dementia or memory loss or any of those, those are toxic,
heavy metals. And, but we can get into this whole neurological thing. Like I've always,
I've always talked about this. Well, neurological is anxiety and any kind of anxiety or crippling
anxiety or any kind of issue that's neurological. And, you know, migraines are neurological and,
and, you know, only you got neuropathy, it pretty much says it itself in a way, but
the bottom line is like, we deal with, we're a society today, we're living with neurological
symptoms. And that's a huge part of what people are suffering and struggling with every day,
day to day. It's why I want people to cleanse out these troublemakers that are behind these
neurological symptoms that people have, because if you have, if you have the brain fog, well,
then we got something going on and we have to work on healing it on a deeper level. And
I think that, I think it's, it's really important. How do you, how do you incorporate medical medium
information yourself in your life? Or how are you, you know, like, do you do the celery juice at all?
or have you tried the celery juice?
You're starting to do different things.
I do.
You have.
I know you, but it was just a little bit.
Yeah, no, well, when I first started.
I was wondering how much you were drinking, though,
and how much, but I know you've done it.
I should be drinking more, but I, you know,
when I first, personally, I hated celery,
hated celery, and then I was introduced to you.
I said, all right, I will try it, and I did.
And I got to tell you, the juice was quite okay.
And I was lucky that the first batch I got
was that nice, sweet batch.
And I learned from you that the fatter, lighter stalks
are the sweeter, more fun to drink.
Yeah.
As opposed to the thinner, darker ones are more bitter.
So thankfully, my first one was not that bitter one.
But yeah, so I really enjoyed it.
And when I first started drinking it,
I would, in the evening,
I used to get tired in the evenings
and then a whole bunch of evenings would come
and I'd be pretty wide awake.
I'd say, well, why am I wide awake?
oh yeah I had celery juice this morning
so I do enjoy
my rate limiting step is having enough
having enough
in the house and then I got a little
bit discouraged by the bitterness of it but then
you know realized that
it wasn't that the celery was
spoiled or that I left fruit wash on it
it was really that you know it's medicinal
and it's the quality of it and I've started drinking
the bitter one and the non-bitter one
last night I had it for dinner
and yeah so
So I definitely drink it, and I definitely want to drink it more.
Yeah.
I actually loved having it.
Yeah, I mean, you know, the whole thing with celery,
you can have the green, spindlier kind, the more stringent, bitter kind,
and, you know, it tastes more medicinal.
It's not as more medicinal.
It's all the same as the other kind, too, but as far as medicinal-wise for us.
But it'll taste so strong, and that shocks a lot of people.
When they first try it, they first do it.
And I always like talking about that too, because it reminds people who stopped using it. Hey,
you know, you might want to bring it back in and, you know, cause it's important. I like the celery
juice and I like so many other things, the medical medium tools, because it helps to get out the
troublemakers. It's like, it's about therapeutically getting out those toxins, therapeutically working
out those pathogens and being able to flush these things out of her body over time. And that's what
I, that's, that's what I love about that. And in your practice, you know, have you, have you,
from you seen patients that have many years of sickness, I mean, you, you have to with the amount
of years, and I know we've talked about this before, but, you know, it, it's important. It's
important because the medical meeting community is, is a big part of it are the people who have
been there and done that. So the community here, and I'm seeing comments coming up, you guys,
I am reading them. And so I'll try to catch some if I can. And, you know, the thing is, is that
when people, you know, when people have many years of sickness, and they tried everything,
they've been there, they've done that, you know, I really think the world doesn't understand them,
You know, the world doesn't understand them. And that's partly why I think this has become the largest health community for the chronically ill and safe space, the medical meeting community. And because I think it's always been about, look, you know, if you've really suffered and struggled like this and you have that many years on you of that, it takes an understanding.
And I know you have that too, you know, and I want people to know if, if you know, if
you're looking for a good doctor, I mean, Alana's the, I mean, the best of the best.
And that's, so I like, I wanted to bring you on because so many people, they, they
need that support and they, you know, they need that need that help because they, they've,
they've been through so much.
And I always kind of, I, I've had to classify things where, um, I had to classify things
where you got the not sick, but I really call them the not sick yet. So you have the not sick,
and then you have the not so sick. The not so sick might have a little bit of acne,
a little digestive disturbance, a little bit of energy issues, you know, maybe a little bit
of depression, a little bit of anxiety comes and goes. It's intermittent. They can still exercise.
They can still live their life. They can still distract themselves with, you know, with, with,
with all anything and everything. And, and that's the not so sick.
And I don't want the not so sick getting sicker.
I don't want the not so sick getting sicker.
I want the not so sick to learn how to heal early before they start,
they spin their wheels to tons of misinformation out there. You know,
they're, they're on the internet.
They're picking up tidbits everywhere that aren't helpful. And then eventually,
you know,
they become not so sick and then sicker and sicker and then they become the sick. So I always said
there's the not sick and the not sick yet. And then there's not so sick, like I just said,
and then there's the sick, you know, and, and there's, there's, there's some different lines
between the not so sick and the sick. But I say this because when people have been sick a long
time, they remember the days when they first were not so sick. And they remember that day and,
And, you know, they probably remember the days, too, of asking so many doctors for help, asking for, I mean, going to different physicians, going to all kinds of different healers and everything and MDs and MDs and everything else.
And so I'm basically saying, you know, because it kind of it relates to so much with the medical medium community because they've been there.
They've done that. They've tried that. They tried everything.
I mean, in your practice, I mean, you must have had people come in that have just been everywhere or have been sick for 10 years.
And, you know, and I know talking to you in the past that you've seen that you've had that experience.
And that experience is a special one because is that, you know, I like aligning myself with doctors that have the experience like you do.
and that's what the blessing is like when I met you, you know, that was just like, it was like,
wow, you know, and, and I, I have so many doctors that reach out to me and, and I want them to learn
and I want them to, to, you know, to learn about stuff. But if they're, if they, there's a difference
between, you know, like where you're at in your career that when I met you, I was just like, oh
my God, you know, like exactly. I mean, you know, real MDs, you know, real ones, they seen so much,
they understand so much and they understand women's suffering and they understand, you know,
what women have gone through and men, what men have gone through too. And they understand that.
And that's why I couldn't believe I said, you know what, you know, this is exciting. You did
the forward on medical medium cleanse to heal. And it was a great honor for me. And then having
you on here is amazing too. And so what, like, you know, when people come to you and stuff and
how it, like, how do you respond to them a little bit when they bend through a lot? Are you,
you know, are you, are you working on what's your goals with your patients? That's what I want to
know. Like, what's your goals with your patients? Is it to, it's eventually get them so they're not
on medications or minimizing them as a heal?
Or is the goal to reinforce them and build up their immune systems?
If you can give my people a little bit about your goals for your patients.
That's such a nicely worded question.
My goals is, first of all, very individual.
So my first and foremost goal is to help people understand where they're at,
understand that there's probably been so many missing links that have been haven't been looked
into as underlying causes or as treatment options so I want most importantly people to understand
that there's like this whole other world that probably was not investigated or investigated
I guess effectively perhaps so I try to give them a roadmap the very first thing I do is give them
a roadmap of all the different like I said missing links of kind of the different paths whether it's
other practitioners with other therapies and what kind of testing,
what kind of diets, you know, what kind of juicer to get, you know,
and it's so individual. It's so, and it, and like you said before,
and I, there's not one particular thing that I specialize in, like,
I guess symptomatically because everybody is so unique and I,
and I just love to learn about each person and,
and find that thing in them that I can make the biggest difference.
And that's what makes me most excited because I don't want anybody to feel
left out. I want to be able to kind of help where I can for anybody. So that's my goal. And then
whatever their goals are. So it's getting them cleansed, recognizing that there's pollution,
there's heavy metals, there's, you know, all the chemicals around us, all the toxins and the
troublemakers and understanding, you know, what role they play, where they can control them,
where they can't control them and how to safely and effectively get rid of them. That's one aspect.
But it all goes hand in hand with the immune system and pain.
It's a whole combination.
Yeah, it's kind of, I mean, everything's really connected.
So getting the foundations, the foundations of, you know, keeping clean inside, keeping strong, keeping optimistic, getting the stress under control.
You know, we spoke, you know, at one point earlier, you know, I like to think of there's three categories of treatments, health, even root causes, biochemical, biomechanical, bioelectrical.
So medication.
So a lot of medicine is the biochemical aspect is medication.
But there are supplements and nutrients, mostly food, you know, mostly the plants.
um uh so you're you're a doctor that believes food is medicine oh my god yeah so you know
totally that's that's like a huge part that's missing yeah yeah and movement and keeping your
stress under control so it's all you know yes yeah and you're and you're you know i know you
always talk you always talk to me about fight or flight too you know people with their adrenals
fight or flight you know kind of stress they're under and how you how you analyze that with each
individual. You're, you're a doctor that actually talks to your patients. And, you know, a lot of
doctors don't talk to their patients. I mean, it's small talk, but they don't talk to their patients.
And well, that's what I love about you, you know, because you're, you're not, you're, you're an MD
that actually talks to your patients and you want to know, like, you want to know what's going on
in their life. Yeah. Yeah. I enjoy, I enjoy, I mean, the good things as well to know what's
going on in their life. Yes. But, but, but you have to know, you have to understand,
you have to know, you have to really understand where they're at because everybody's ready to
make changes at different paces. And how are they going to implement the changes as well?
Yeah. A person just question, I kind of caught it real quick that their fight or flight is
easily triggered. So in their question, they're like their fight or flight is really easily
triggered and, and, and, um, you know, if you can shed some light, I, what I, what happens,
what I see if someone's fight or flight gets easily, easily triggered, what I like to do is
make sure we're reinforcing certain aspects of the body so that it doesn't hit you so hard, you know?
And, um, and, and so I like the, keeping the blood sugar stable, keeping the blood sugar up. I mean,
when fight or flight's happening, I like making sure there's blood sugar going on, like, like
you're eating every hour and a half, a little bit, you're snacking and stuff. So there's a
question I saw pop up at it. You know, I caught it real quick. And like, what are some of the
tips you have for like when fight or flight is triggered so easily for a patient?
Oh gosh. Again, that would be so many, I mean, that would require a long conversation,
but it'd be looking at, again, back to the food that they're eating, the pollution that's in them,
the supplements that are taking, the sleep that they're not having, the stress that they have
in their life that is uncontrollable.
But yes, blood sugar, nutrient levels.
And again, I mean, a lot of it has to do with self-care,
self-care mindset, going outside.
You know, I mean, there's so much.
Trying to break it.
Trying to break it, but there's lots of ways
to break it in different people.
So it really requires just an individual conversation,
you know?
Of course, there's things that are well-known,
like taking a deep breath, stimulating your vagus nerve,
of stimulating your, you know, your parasympathetic nervous system and all getting out of that fight
or flight. But that's one component of it. I mean, there's so many reasons why, and it could be
something as food sensitivities. It could be that you're starving. It could be, you're not having
enough glucose. I mean, there's so many, there's so many different aspects, but yes. Yeah. Yeah.
I like, I like the physical support of, you know, cause what happens to on the emotional support,
if someone's getting emotional support, that's, that's amazing too. But then physically
we have physical support too as well you know an emotional level i've always i've always used the
spirit of compassion has given me which which is um you know um um it's about the storm passing
it's about how things change and nothing stays the same and that's that's because we go into
these storms and we need to see the other side of it we need to know no matter what that that
storm is going to pass. And that part right here has always helped me. The spirit of compassion
has given me and, you know, that alone. And, and, and I always have told people throughout the years,
you're not what your stress is. You know, you're not what your stress is. That's not who you are.
And I think that when we, when we're really in it and we're getting triggered and we have PTSD,
we, we actually feel like we've, we've been labeled part of everything. We've been,
we've been dragged into it as like our own soul when really we're, we're not, we're not who we're
not. That's not who we are. You know, we're, we are not the stress, even if we get triggered easy,
even if we have PTSD, we are still separate from it. We are a separate individual from the stress.
We are a separate human being. We're separate soul from the stress, from the stress, and we are
separate from it. And, and that's something that is so critical to keep in mind. And the other
thing is having compassion for yourself. You know, we, we don't have control over everything
that's happening around us. We don't. And many of us have unique situations and all of us have
unique situations with what we're up against with stress and the level of it and the different
occurrences that are happening in our life. And, and I always say we, we, we can't be hard on
ourselves during it because it's not our fault. And I think the first thing that happens with any
stress is we instantly blame ourselves. We instantly blame ourselves for being at fault.
Like we're the reason why this stress is happening. Like we're to blame. Like it's,
it's cause of us. It's our fault. Why this, why the stress is happening. It's because,
you know, and that's really, really not a great place to go because we have to have compassion
for ourselves because it's not our fault and it's not, we're not the reason for it. And we're not,
we have to have compassion for ourselves greatly and know this. And when instantly,
the minute any stress happens, it's like, boom, it's gotta be my fault. It's gotta be,
I'm causing it. I'm the reason. And, and that's a huge thing that happens no matter what,
what's going on in our life. And whether it's emotional abuse, whether it's anything, but we,
we just instantly, it's like us, it's, it's, you know, it's me, it's, it's whatever,
it's the person. And I think that, I think what I like to do is I like to help people and say,
no, it's not your fault because that's, that's not the truth. It's not,
there's so many circumstances that the reason why it's happening and it's not
your fault. You're not the reason for this stress,
no matter what is happening with it all. And, and I think, you know,
that some of the things that I've always done,
I mean there's a lot of things talked about in Mecklenburg book one of,
of, of, of helping somebody with stress and other, and the other books,
but these are just some things that, you know, I, I love to just, you know,
help people with all on its own, but it is just a powerful baseline, you know, it's because the
minute we're up against that fight or flight, we just, we go into fear. We're up against that
fight or flight. We go into fear that we caused it, that we did it, that it's unstoppable. It's
never going to change. It's, it's a never ending place to be stuck in and the PTSD is wrapped up
in it. And, and that's, that's that place. I want to take somebody out of that and say, no,
no, no, no, no, no. Because have compassion for yourself. It's not your fault. You're a good
person. You didn't cause this and you didn't cause a reason for this trigger in this flight or flight
you didn't, you know, and, and all of that matters and it will change and you will see the other side
of it and you will see, and you know, all these things are so they matter so much, you know?
And like Bea Moonsters said, her fight or flight triggers off panic, triggers off other things.
And so in this, planet Earth is a hard place.
It's a hard place.
So I like to physically support someone's nervous system.
I like tools to support their physical, critical physical parts like their nervous system and their adrenals.
adrenals. And what are some of the, what are some of the things you like to do for adrenals?
Nutrition, stress, sleep, you know, various supplements, getting to the root causes again
of why. I mean, it really all comes down to why I think whether it's adrenals or if it's,
I mean, literally anything. So I like to look at things as when your body's in that fight or
flight or when you're having any kind of symptom, it just means your body is not in balance. And
When you're not in balance, I think of it, there's a term called the cell danger response.
So if your body is, if your cells, I mean, all we are is cells.
We're trillions of cells.
That's literally what we're made of.
And if they're feeling threatened, if a few cells are feeling threatened, communication
signals then get sent out to the rest of the body to protect themselves and to protect
the rest of the body.
And then you start feeling all these crazy symptoms.
You know, you might feel at one place, another person will feel it another way.
I mean, again, it's so individual, but it's still that out of balance cell danger response.
And there's really a bucket of causes and the more of root causes and the more that bucket gets filled.
Yeah. The more out of balance you are.
And I think genetically, I would say, would be, let's say, the shape of the bucket and how much you can tolerate, perhaps, or your specific needs.
but there's infection there's toxin which could be environmental toxin or a food allergen you know
some or something within food that's not necessarily a chemical but something that you
don't resonate with um stress or trauma uh so those are things that are too much of and then
the deficiencies nutritional deficiencies sleep deficiency uh nature deficiency social deficiency
dehydrate you know hydration deficiency so if you i have a checklist if you if you go through that
checklist is in general terms and see how it fits in with somebody eventually they're going to come
to those root causes and the most important thing is addressing those root causes addressing whatever
genetic tendencies you may have the more nutrient needs you may have doing things to make yourself
feel safe you know um especially if there's been some sort of trauma before it could be um talking
to somebody whatever whatever whatever that means to you um kind of a mind a mind frame but there's
so there's so many so that's how it is so that's what i think when i hear symptoms i hear out of
balance that's that's what i hear more and it just happens to present you in one way and him another
way or her another way no totally um brooke has a question she says please could you talk about
reducing hashimoto's antibodies naturally and um and you know what i've what i've talked to
doctors over the years and try to give them information about that I've done is that those
antibodies are there for a reason. And the reason is still unknown to research in science. That's
the other thing too. And I'm sure you know that Alana too. And as we've talked about it again,
because the science research has never seen what that antibody even does or where it goes. And I
think one of the greatest mistakes in medicine is to blame that those antibodies are there to
destroy your thyroid gland. And so Hashimoto's becomes this theory of it's a storm and your
body's immune system is trying to destroy the gland and that's why it's swollen. But really,
Epstein-Barr enters into the thyroid, gets it inflamed because it's entering into the thyroid
and the response is an invader and that's what happens and then because of that your body creates
an antibody to try to get the virus itself which is a difficult task if it's not getting what it
needs like what are some of the natural things you like to do in the course like someone comes
in with the Hashimoto's thyroiditis and you know what are what are some of the natural things is it
gluten is that something you pull somebody away from the first thing I do right now I say have
you heard of the medical medium? That's what I do right now. And most of the time they say,
as a matter of fact, yes. Or if they do say no, I'll say, well, now that you heard his name,
you're probably never going to unsee him again because it's so much. So I, you know, I go right
to the, the, the, your principles. I, I guide them to your books. Um, we talk about the principles
and you know gluten as part of that this does is gluten in in my in my world i don't know if
does gluten necessarily affect every single person with Hashimoto's no i think it's an
important thing to consider but at least especially if you're an acute autoimmune flare for sure it
doesn't mean you necessarily have celiac but it could be that the gluten antibodies are also
cross-reacting to the damaged thyroid. So, you know, I'm not dogmatic necessarily about any one
particular thing, but the first thing I really do is say, let's talk medical media. No, gluten's
important. I mean, gluten's very important. No, no, it's very important. Oh yeah, you're right.
Yeah, no, no. Go there first. No, I love that you go there first because what happens is that
gluten's a troublemaker and what it does is, and science research doesn't know this,
but it becomes food for the pathogen that's causing an illness. So, so if you got Hashimoto's
thyroiditis, and first of all, our bodies aren't stupid. I mean, our bodies are smart and they just,
our bodies don't just all of a sudden get confused. And all of a sudden we have a swollen thyroid now
and our body's creating an antibody to try to destroy it. Like our bodies don't work like that.
Our bodies are not stupid.
And what happens in science and research is science and research loves to not have something to back it up.
They don't have a study that shows that that's what's really happening, that your body's now stupid and it's confused.
They don't have a study to show that.
But they'll gladly say in the end, that's what's going on.
But that's not how it works.
The reason why that thyroid is swollen is because there's a pathogen.
And so gluten, I love that you target gluten.
And at least you look at that right away.
And I think that's brilliant because when you're doing that, you're trying to take a
food away from a bug because bugs eat food.
And when bugs eat food, they, they got fuel.
And so when you're in a, in a thyroid storm and you're in that, and, but you're, you're
the bug that's actually, because if you're in that Hashimoto's thyroiditis, that peak,
that means your bugs are cranking, they're feeding on stuff.
They're cranking, they're hungry.
they're keeping things inflamed and you're put if you're pumping in that gluten you're just gonna
feed it like you're feeding the monster you're feeding the you know you're feeding the engine
you're putting coal in the engine the steam engine and so i love that i love the fact that you're
like okay wait a minute how much gluten are you eating you know like there's there you know there
a lot of doctors don't want to go there they don't want to go there they don't want to even even i
I mean, even doctors that know gluten is not good, they don't even want to go near gluten.
I've seen this.
It's unbelievable.
They know gluten is terrible.
But they don't even want to go near it.
And, you know, I love how you like instantly like someone walks through the door, they got something going on.
You're like, okay, I want to look at that gluten.
Because, sure, someone may not have any symptoms and they don't have any problems that they're feeding on gluten.
So they're eating gluten and everything's okay.
Sure.
There's people that are eating gluten. Everything seems all right. But I'm really glad that you that you're actually, you know, you know, just right away. You're just like, you know, that's one of the things you look at because, you know, in the in the 35 years before the publishing around the publishing, the books, the medical medium books, someone someone came into the office for me.
and, and, you know, and they had the gluten thing. I remember, I mean, a lot of you've been
in this for a long time. Like me, do you remember mentioning gluten years ago? And people are,
when they look at you, like you have like two heads because they've never even really heard
of that. Like get rid of wheat. What do you mean? Get rid of wheat. I remember 35 years ago,
I'd say, no, you got to get wheat out of here fast. And people were like, what are you talking
about wheat this is you know 1985 you know five 1990 1992 what do you mean wheat and so but I'm
really glad you go there because um I think that's important what about I think now though
oh go ahead sorry I was gonna say I think now it's I mean I tell people now is the easiest time
than ever to be gluten-free I think it's I really don't think it's hard to be gluten-free right now
most of the time.
Most of the time.
My family's gluten-free. I'm not fully gluten-free,
but my family is gluten-free.
And I think
that if you make the effort,
if you have the ability to kind of plan a little
bit, there's so many great
options for home and for going out.
We were in Europe a few years ago,
and actually all over Europe,
the menus are so gluten-free.
Even in Vienna, they list it.
In Vienna, they were listing it at every single
every single thing and it's Slovakia everything gluten you know it's it's so easy to be gluten
free right now dairy you know same thing again I think a lot of people have a problem with dairy
and it's something that has to be looked at so if you're if you're super sick if you know if you're
really feeling bad if you're really feeling bad you have strong autoimmune concern a strong
inflammatory concern then I think that you have to give there you know a trial of no dairy a fair
chance are really as something for sure you know and again it's a spectrum do you then you know
some people i say well cut back and just if you really can't get rid of depending how sick they
are and how willing they are to commit um you know cut back as much as you can and and see how that
goes for you because some people really have and you know are inflamed it's not not even necessarily
true allergens it's not really necessarily true allergy but it's how the body processes it so yeah
I'm, you know, gluten-free, dairy-free.
I've seen it clear.
Eczema, you know, again, it has to be practical for the person.
The person has to be, you know, I think the sicker a person is and the more they've tried,
the more open-minded they are and the more they're vested, the more interested.
Yeah, it usually happens where the sicker you get, the more you'll actually, you know,
start doing things.
And so what I've noticed, though, is if you don't have the right tools when you're getting
sicker and sicker, you just get stuck in it and you stay sick for 10, 15 years. And that's the
sad part. You know, if you don't know about celery juice or the heavy metal detox smoothie,
the medical medium, heavy metal detox smoothie, or know what troublemakers to look for, know how
to get the metals out, know the true causes of your conditions and you're swimming around
and swimming around for 10 years and, you know, and you're not sure what to do. And that's a hard
thing all on its own. That's why I like talking about the foods because I think that what happens
is and i think in people in the medical medium community too they get challenged with what
they're eating all the time and um the funny thing is is the medical medium information brought
more food back to people than taking it away even though i say get get rid of the dairy get rid of
the eggs get rid of the gluten what happens is uh medical medium information brought fruit back
fruit and yes fruit was off the table i i'm when i when when i published medical medium book one or
it was published medical meeting book one back in 2000 and uh i wrote in 2014 or whatever in
or 2013 it was published in 2015 and what happened was you know people were in shock that i was like
no we need fruit we need fruit and this is how you have to do it and so i just brought in a whole
bunch of different foods if you think about how many fruits there are that was all brought back
into people's nights then i brought in the nightshades because the nightshade theory was
total, total BS. It just was, it was a theory. It had nothing to do with anything. And so the
nightshades, people didn't know that when a nightshade bothered them, it was because it was
mixed with something where it had dairy on top. It was a baked potato with sour cream,
baked potato with butter, baked potato with milk. That's what was doing. It was the milk,
the butter, the, you know, the bad oils, the, all these different things. And so I had to bring the
potatoes back in, in the nightshades. And that was a big deal then cruciferous. Okay. No one
wanted to eat cruciferous because there was this, there was this, uh, theory that it's possible
that these gorgogens, you know, these anti-gorgogens, the whole thing and the whole, the thyroid and
all that, don't eat a piece of broccoli. Don't eat a piece of, so I brought in the whole, uh,
uh, you know, the whole, all the stulfa rich vegetables I brought in. It's like, okay,
well here, I'm bringing in loads and loads of food. And sure. I'm saying, look, just try to
keep the eggs out try to keep the dairy out i'm not even taking away meat people are like what is
he is he plant-based is he animal-based what the hell is he you know and what it is is i'm just
about answers knowing what to do and bringing in more food instead of taking more away and
so but when when you say hey yeah i think someone should try to back down off that dairy if they got
something going on and i i just think that's brilliant because it matters and i think the
medical meeting community, they go under fire because they're bringing the fruit and they get
yelled at for bringing in the fruit and they bring in the nightshades. They get yelled at out there
by other communities for bringing in the nightshades, you know, and then they remove the
eggs and then everybody yells at them for removing the eggs, even though the eggs are feeding all the
reproductive system diseases and conditions and all these other things. It's so good to remove them.
But I want to ask you about the morning cleanse. You know, I love keeping the fats out in the
morning, like keeping the fats away. And fats are like the avocado. I love avocado. It's amazing
food, but I love keeping it away out of the morning to give the liver a chance to cleanse.
You know, if you fill that bloodstream up with fat first thing in the morning and
bacon and eggs is the worst. So if you do the bacon and eggs in the morning, or you're doing
butter in the morning, those are the really radical fats that I don't like in the morning
because then your liver could never cleanse. Or, you know, what's your thought about like the
morning cleanse, medical meeting morning cleanse, keeping the fats out in the morning.
so the body can cleanse, so the liver can cleanse.
So I just wanted to ask you about that for a minute.
Well, first of all, I think it makes total sense
because you want your blood flowing.
So I think it's nice to give your chance.
First of all, I think it's nice to give a chunk of the day
when you can do that, especially in the morning
when you're first getting up and going
and you're moving and your blood is moving.
It's nice to keep things flowing.
So yeah, so I love that idea.
And then the great quality fats you can have later on.
That's number one.
And number two, I love it as an opportunity to get your fruits and vegetables in.
You know, like you can really have that whole variety, the juices, the heavy metal smoothie.
I mean, there's so much you could put in there.
So kind of almost it's that sacred time to really be mindful of the fruits and vegetables
because it's not as easy to be mindful through the day.
And if you kind of have this routine in the morning, you know, and you talk about the
rhythm of the body.
so having that that's almost like an expected rhythm for the body as well yeah so um the rhythm
of the rhythm of the detoxification rhythm of detox they talk rhythm of cleanse that's what
you were talking about so it also you know it's kind of part of that circadian or that rhythm that
you know that that circadian rhythm or the rhythm that that um we all have so it anchors kind of it's
a way to anchor the morning so no i like it and i love the heavy metal detox movie yeah the heavy
Detox is critical, important. Someone just commented a little bit ago and said that fruit
is the only thing they can eat when they're in pain. And, you know, that alone right there says
so much to me because in all the years, 35 years into this I've been, and all the years, the decades
you've been in this and stuff is that, you know, misinformation can take away someone's chance of
finding comfort, someone's chance of healing. And when you think about that, you know, a comment
like that, which is fruit is the only thing I can eat when I'm in pain. And, and what I find out
there with the other MDs, some of the other, like the doctor authors and stuff, a lot of a plant
based doctor, whatever the, what all these different, the paleo based doctor authors,
and a lot of the people that are out there in the limelight, they don't understand what that means.
Like they don't know what that means. You know, they just don't. They're either too disconnected
from when they practiced or when they practiced, they really didn't know what was happening.
You know, they just didn't know because, you know, when they're all anti-fruit or they're all anti-sugar out of fruit and all these things.
And here you go.
Exactly what that was.
Fruit is the only thing that helps me when I'm in pain.
And, you know, and what I love about you is that you just understand all of these things.
You know, it's like, sure, you can be a doctor, but does that mean you're going to you're going to get it?
Does that mean you're going to get people suffering and struggling?
And so, I mean, it's just an honor that we have you here tonight.
So it's just that amazing.
Thank you.
And so I did want to say that, you know, you're okay with people eating fruit.
And that so many doctors are just-
That's a self-serving reason too.
That's a self-serving reason.
I love fruit.
And every time, you know, if I would learn about a new diet plan, as I was learning through the years, no fruit, no fruit.
It never sat well with me.
And, you know, I guess because I'm biased because I love fruit.
Well, you know what it is?
is so many doctors, they fall into a belief system and you don't fall into these belief
systems where you just shut down everything. And that's what I love about you because here's what
happens now. Doctors think you're sick because you don't have enough protein. That's why you're
sick. You come through, you come walking through the door to thyroid problem. You come walking
through the door with an illness. You come walking through the door with a neurological symptoms.
The first thing MDs do is like, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're not getting enough protein
where the whole world is getting enough protein, then the whole world is sick.
So, and that's, you know, what I love about you is you're not locked into this thing where
it has to be all keto, keto, keto, keto.
Any patient that comes rolling in, you're immediately like no fruit whatsoever.
You have to be keto.
That right there is just a complete and total epic disaster.
Like that to me is not trying to insult doctors that are like that.
But what I am saying is, is those doctors have so much to learn.
it's painful. And that's why people can see 50 doctors and not get the comfort they need,
not get the bedside manner they need, not get the, they get the right information they need,
all these things. And that's what I've seen out there. You know, out of all the doctors I've known
and talked to over the years, there's a lot of like that. And I know that, you know, a lot of
people would come into my office throughout the years and be like, no, my, my doctor, only keto,
only ketosis and no, no fruit, nothing, this, not one potato, not one sweet potato, not one steamed,
whatever. And so, and, and not winter squash or not something. And you know, what happens is that
that locked in belief system is really kind of, that always, that always spooks me because it's
like, okay, you know, no, not experienced and it's painful, you know, locked into something.
And what I love about you, you're open.
And in order for people to have a chance to heal, the doctor has to be open.
And that's what's amazing.
I mean, you're just incredible.
And the morning cleanse, I really love.
And the morning cleanse, I'm talking about the morning cleanse now for a minute, because
the morning cleanse is about that lemon water, you know, and you're not anti-lemon water.
And that's another, and it brings me back to this.
It's like doctors are closed off many of them.
I mean, it's like, and sure, they could still be a great person, an amazing person, an amazing, you know, person.
But yet they're closed off.
They don't want you to have lemon water.
And they don't like the lemon water.
And I thought that for years, you know, trying to get lemon water from people for years to flush out those morning toxins and do a morning cleanse.
And they go, well, my doctor doesn't want me on lemon water.
I'm like, okay, I understand.
That's your doctor's orders.
And I always abide by doctor's orders.
but it's it's it's um but you know so i like the morning cleanse i know you understand it how
important the lemon water is like if you if your patients come in and their blood's thick and
they're dehydrated and they're toxic i mean are you okay with the lemon water i'm fine with lemon
water i i'm very fine with lemon water um i'm very fine with with whatever look you resonated
with me but the the comment i hear over and over and over about you is he makes sense and he
resonates with me. And I think that if something resonates with somebody, we only, we know
ourselves the best. So even I could tell somebody my opinions and, you know, they're still, and
they're still going to follow whatever really they resonate. And often that makes the, you know,
that makes a great path. So, you know, providing the information, you know, what you've been doing
is helping them understand what's happening, giving them options, giving us options. And,
And when it's resonating and you do what feels right for you, you know, that's what's right.
So, you know, if the lemon water really is not resonating with you and you're not ready to try it, then you're not ready to try it.
Yeah, you don't have to try it.
That's okay.
That's okay.
It just is.
You know, it just is.
I think that's important.
You do what resonates with you.
And, you know, you kind of know what's good.
You know what's happening.
You have to understand yourself.
and if somebody is
you know emphatically
let's say being closed minded about something
and you know there's other options
just again you know you resonate with that
follow your heart of what's right for you
there was a comment I think from
Wanda Womano
and I think she said
from what I remember it was a few minutes ago
or so forth she said finally a doctor that
okays fruit
finally a doctor that means hurry
that's what I said about you finally somebody that
okays fruit
So I think her experience was she'd been to doctors and they didn't know K fruit.
So it's real.
It's real.
It's really real.
And people are asking questions like what to eat, what kind of foods to eat and things like that.
And, you know, there's a lot of in the morning cleanse.
You can do the thing is you can take your morning cleanse to a whole new level.
You can do like the heavy metal detox smoothie, the medical medium, heavy metal detox smoothie in during the morning.
You got the celery juice.
You could do a fruit smoothie.
So here's cleanse and heal.
If you want to know about that, anybody who's asking, I know there's a lot of new people
on there tonight because I see that.
And, um, you know, people could even do a potato in the morning.
They can even do a potato.
That's the whole thing.
The funny thing.
And I know that's like a leap for someone.
That's a big leap for someone.
And, you know, um, and unless it's like fried hash browns, maybe that's not a leap because
people love fried hash browns or, you know, and then butter.
But no, but potatoes without the oils, without the butter, of course, without all of that.
And even if someone wants to, you know, I talk about the mono-eating cleansing here where literally it's just, it's potato.
And you can still move that needle forward because what we do, our systems break down, our digestive systems break down, our livers break down, they get stagnant, they get sluggish.
The bile production is low, our hydrochloric acid is weakened, our stomach glands are weakened.
And how do we build that?
there's ways to rebuild that. One is I like the lemon water to start cleaning stuff out. You got
the celery juice to start rebuilding the stomach glands and their liver. Then you got this fruit
smoothies. You're bringing some fruit in there and get bananas in there. You get the wild blueberries,
the frozen wild blueberries, the bananas. You could just do a fruit smoothie and you can get
through your morning without bombarding your liver with all this fat, whatever fat you choose or
normally eat. You know, I mean, I know people eat animal protein in the morning where it's animal
protein three times a day, animal protein for breakfast, lunch, dinner. I'm not against animal
protein, but you don't want to have that in the morning because you're just going to bombard your
system with the fats. You're never going to cleanse and you're going to get sick 10 years
from now. You're going to get sick five years from now. I always tell people, I've seen it,
and you've probably seen this too. If you're not sick, you're going to get symptoms any way down
the road. No one is immune to that right now. I mean, do you feel that way? No one is immune to
100% no one is immune no one is immune 100% no one is immune and you never know who's gonna get
what and that's why like early early early prevention I mean if I could do anything
it's prevention prevention prevention understand and what is important about prevention
is understand yourself understand what you're what is going on around you understand your
environment understand yourself from blood tests from testing you know know what your sugar is
knowing, know what the effect that your stress is on your body.
There's lots of ways to get into,
there's lots of ways to get into with your body. A lot of ways, you know,
there's lots of biohacks. That's the new word. Biohacks is a lot of biohacks.
I love that word, but there's a lot of biohacks.
It's a great word because it, to me, it's like proactive, you know,
it's proactive prevention. That's what, that's what I think is biohacks,
but you know, the word, you know,
there's so much out there to just to help you understand yourself.
And that's the greatest form of prevention.
And when you act early, then you have time to experiment and see what works well for you.
You have time to start in slowly incorporating things instead of being rushed and pressured to try to do everything at once and go on a roll.
When you have time to build a toolbox that works for yourself, you have time to build a team to help you.
So early, early, early action.
You know, I'm sure that if you think about it, people have some kind of symptoms or even just looking at your family history.
if you know your family history is autoimmune,
if you know your family history is heart disease,
if you know you snore,
if you know there's certain things
and there's something wrong,
that you have to start looking and saying,
okay, what's out of balance
and how am I going to nip it in the butt?
Because yes, it makes a lot of sense.
I just saw a comment from Dr. Wood Spirit.
He's obviously a doctor and he said that,
it's amazing, doctors will say no to fruit
he said but they want you to buy their supplements with antioxidants in it
good point and and and so and that's a good point that's legit right there too what he said i mean
i mean lana you know how it is i saw for years like the no fruit movement compiling in and when
it came in all of a sudden you know these these doctors that were in the limelight were trying
to sell all their like antioxidant little fruit supplements in their in pills in their bottles but
they didn't want anybody eating fruits you know yeah no it's a good point i think it's important
though also you know there there's a concern even on my end if somebody has having insulin resistance
pre-diabetes you know type 2 diabetes you know where how do you if they're not ready let's say
or they don't have the tools to make that full switch of a commitment.
Because I know there's lots of people, there's a whole institute,
I forgot what they're called, of, you know,
using your principles to treat diabetes.
No, no, practice, institute, whatever.
So when you're not mixing the fats and the sugars,
I believe that that can make a big difference.
So, but if you're not going to be able to go full force
and you're really concerned about how you're going to be working
with your blood sugar, then talk to your practitioner, you know, start to understand
they have, you know, your practitioner maybe could prescribe, let's say, even something like a biohack
that I call it, a glucose monitor. People with diabetes, they use continuous glucose monitors.
It's a little patch you put in your arm for two weeks. And then you can watch when you're eating
different things, how that really is affecting your blood sugar, which combinations at all.
So, or, you know, that's one way. And if you don't do that, you know, starting slowly,
adding certain things and slowly transitioning. So yeah, I mean, I could see the concern. I could
see the concern of the fruit in that realm, but there's so many ways around it.
Yeah. And so true. And Joan asked, she asked a question. Joan said, where's your practice,
Dr. Alana? Oh, my practice is everywhere because now I'm only doing telemedicine.
So I'm based in New York and New Jersey and now literally everywhere.
So your practice was in New York, New Jersey.
Now it's everywhere because of telepractice?
Now it's everywhere because I am fully right now on telemedicine.
Do you want to tell anybody how to reach you?
Sure.
Yeah, thanks.
My practice is called Brooklyn Integrative Medicine.
And the website is brooklynim.com.
And you're all on Instagram.
You can also link through there from my Instagram, which is dr.ilanazie.
and that's how you find me.
And then we could talk about
the best course of action for you.
Incredible.
Well, it's amazing having you on here.
It's an honor for me.
Thank you.
And an honor for me too.
Taking your time out
because I know you're busy.
I know you got patients
and lots of patients.
I know you're very busy
and just, you know,
I appreciate everything.
I appreciate you doing the forward
to Medical Media and Book Cleanse to Heal.
I saw a lot of questions come up
and they'd get the questions answered
in cleanse to heal so many questions came totally that person doesn't even have cleanse to heal i
can tell they're asking questions that they get in it's all answered totally and i call you know
when i read it i was like it's like oh my god this is like anthony's bible this is this is
really i i mean it's like your brain is dumped on there it's everything like all the questions i've
had you know over the years and it's just it's in there it's it's really there's it's so
enlightening it's so enlightening and it's not redundant as the other ones it's it's it's
complementary to the other ones well i'm honored truly honored and i love you for coming on thank
you and thank you thank you i'll sign us off and um bless your heart hold on i just i just have to
answer somebody i i threw out snoring over there and and somebody just asked the question about
snoring so like i just put that in there snoring can be a sign of sleep apnea when you're um having
airway restriction, which you're not oxygenating well at night, your body will be in a constant
fight or flight. You're at risk for heart disease and other things. So not necessarily
directly heavy metals, but that's what I meant by early detection, just a simple sign. So that
just as an aside to answer that question. I love that. I love that. Incredible.
Incredible. Well, this is amazing. Thank you. Thank you so much.
And thank you for being on and everybody out there. Thank you for being here
tonight for this. And yeah, it's just, it's a special day.
